6 Week Old Puppies Go Outside!

We had fun on Sunday afternoon taking the puppies outside for the first time! They were a bit timid at first, but then really enjoyed romping around the yard. They drew attention from passers by and neighbors too (we were in our front yard in the sunshine). Here are some pics:

Molly had spent a lot of energy "herding" the pups (see video posted below)

and then finally just layed down and let them try to nurse a bit (even though she hadn't

been nursing them for quite a few days before this).

6 Week Old Puppies Outside with Molly

Here's a video of Molly and the puppies outside in our front yard. It was their first time outside and they seemed to have a great time. Molly, however, took it upon herself to herd them into one place.

Here are a few pics of the puppies at 5 weeks old. They'll be ready to go to new homes in about 3 more weeks and now is a good time to come visit them and see which one you like best (a $100 deposit will place a hold on your puppy). All the puppies are in very good health and are getting daily social time with all of our family. They are good at pottying on the newspapers and training pads we put down and now we will start shrinking the size of the space that they have to go in.

Male Puppy - "Colt" (Going to new home Nov. 14)

This is Colt at 7 weeks old.

"Colt" is what we call the final puppy born (#6). He's a very cute little black boy puppy. His coat looks black, but may have a hint of silver to it. It's a nice curly coat too. He should be a very low shedding dog.

He weighed 16 oz at birth; 1 lb, 12 oz. at 1-week-old; 2 lbs, 12 oz. at 2-weeks-old, 3 lbs, 13 oz. at 3-weeks-old, 5 lbs, 8 oz at 4-weeks-old (he was the big gainer that week!), 7 lbs, 10 oz. at 5-weeks-old, 9 lbs, 10 oz at 6 weeks, 12 lbs, 9 oz at 7 weeks old, and now 18 lbs, 4 oz at 9 weeks.

Already he seems to have a nice, playful temperament. He is calm and enjoys being held.

Male Puppy - "Winchester" - Gone with McTavish to SE Portland!

We call the first black puppy born (and 5th overall), "Winchester". You can tell which one he is right away because he has a cute white patch on this chest. The body of his coat is really dark black and is fairly curly. He should be a very low shedding dog.

He weighed 16 oz at birth; 1 lb, 15 oz. at 1-week-old; 2 lbs, 15 oz. at 2-weeks-old, 3 lbs, 12 oz. at 3-weeks old, 5 lbs, 1 oz at 4-weeks-old, 7 lbs. even at 5-weeks-old, 8 lbs, 12 oz at 6 weeks, 11 lbs, 8 oz at 7 weeks old, 13 lbs, 4 oz at 8 weeks old, and 17 lbs, 1 oz at 9 weeks old.

Winchester is a great, playful pup! He loves being held and will do great with children. He is probably the most mild-mannered puppy in the litter and is just a sweet little guy!

"McTavish" is the fourth-born puppy. He's the lightest colored puppy -- nearly white at this point -- and has a very soft, mostly straight coat. While he may shed just a little bit, he will be easier to brush and groom than his curlier siblings.

He weighed 15 oz at birth; 1 lb, 14 oz. at 1-week-old; 3 lbs even at 2-weeks-old, 4 lbs even at 3-weeks-old, 5 lbs, 3 oz at 4-weeks-old, 6 lbs, 14 oz at 5-weeks-old, 8 lbs, 5 oz at 6 weeks, 10 lbs, 3 oz at 7 weeks old, 12 lbs even at 8 weeks old, and 14 lbs, 8 oz at 9 weeks old.

He is full of energy and will be a great family pet. He's great to play with!

Our third-born puppy we call "Tracker" because he was the first to start exploring his surroundings and he is usually the first to notice when Molly is in the area. He's a very adorable puppy! He has a light tan or perhaps slightly apricot wavy coat. He should be a low shedding dog.

He weighed 18 oz at birth; 1 lb, 15 oz. at 1-week-old; 2 lbs, 14 oz. at 2-weeks-old, 3 lbs, 14 oz. at 3-weeks old, 5 lbs, 4 oz at 4-weeks-old, 7 lbs even at 5-weeks-old, 8 lbs, 8 oz at 6 weeks, 11 lbs, 9 oz at 7 weeks old, and 14 lbs even at 8 weeks old.

He's very alert and enjoys being held. He seems to be one of the most observant of anything going on. This is a really nice puppy!

2 Week Old Puppies!

At two weeks old, our little puppies have their eyes open (mostly) and are starting to react to sound too. We have now moved them from the tub in our family room to the big kennel I built for them in our garage. They are starting to move around in their new space and explore a bit (although they still like to lay close together in a puppy pile most of the time that mom isn't with them!). Their weights now range from 2 lbs, 12 oz to 3 lbs, 2 oz. They're looking good!

Puppies Now 1 Week Old!

Just thought I'd share a few pics of the puppies at one week old. They're all doing great and gaining weight daily (thanks to Molly!). Weights at birth were between 15 and 18 ounces and now all are between 1 lb, 12 oz and 1 lb, 15 oz. We're still watching for the first ones to open their eyes. Also, we've been brainstorming names and will probably give them our "pet" names (which new owners may change, of course); we like to see their personalities after they can see and are moving around before giving them names.

Meal time! Molly spends a lot of time feeding and grooming them (but she does take breaks and is back at wanting to play fetch with her ball!).

6 Puppies Born Sept. 4 & 5!

Molly had her puppies last night (between 10:30pm and 2:30am!). All six are healthy and mom and puppies are doing well! We have five boys and one girl. All were between 15 and 18 ounces at birth.

I love the colors too! Two that are very white/light cream; one that looks like he will be yellower and curly; one that has a light tan or apricot color; and two that are black (one black one has a white patch on his chest; the other is more of a silvery black like his mom.

Here are some pictures on their first day out in the world. I'll be posting regular updates about these puppies over the next few weeks. If you are wanting an F1b labradoodle, let me know. You could put a deposit down now ($100) which allows you to pick out and "hold" your puppy until they are ready to go home after Halloween or so. Molly was bred again with Casper and we anticipate puppies to be born about the second week of September. That means we should have some adorable new pups ready to go to homes by about early November! I'll post more info when we see how things are going.

Labradoodle Puppies for Christmas!

We now have three of our F1b labradoodle puppies still available! I will be posting eight-week pictures next weekend, but if you're interested in a puppy, just leave a comment or e-mail me and I'll get you pictures. (new 6-week pics posted 11/25)

They are getting so playful now! "Romp" is the word that comes to mind. They love to play with each other and get so excited when anyone comes to their area (which is in our family room).

Labradoodle Girl Puppy "Bella"

The "cream of the crop" in our litter is a gorgeous, cream-colored girl that we call "Bella". She has a thick, wavy coat that should be very low-shedding and allergy-friendly. Her color and coat are really nice! She's a special dog in our litter and highly desirable as a pet.

Meet Each Puppy!

I'm going to do a separate post with pictures for each puppy. I'll tell a little about each one (size, weight, sex, coat characteristics, etc.). We have a "pet name" we call each one too (but these are most likely temporary until they go to new homes). Also there will be an asking price and a status ("available" or "already taken").

Here are a couple pics from yesterday. They're now pretty much fully weaned and are eating a pre-softened puppy food mix (with formula added). They are not only getting bigger, but are much more playful! Also, they're pretty well paper-trained now.

Labradoodle Puppies for Sale

It's true, we are going to be selling these puppies (four are now spoken for!). These are F1b Labradoodle puppies from nice registered lines. They have had their dew claws removed and will have their first shots and first worm treatments by the time they are ready to go home with you!

They are three weeks old today (Friday, Nov. 2) and will be 10 weeks old on the Friday right before Christmas. We would be happy to hold your puppy for pickup on Christmas Eve, if you like! We could also have the puppy picked up earlier (some pet stores sell puppies as young as six weeks old, but it's probably best to be a little older); let us know if you'd like one earlier in December.

We have four black puppies (two male and two female), two brown ones (both male), and one light, cream-colored (a female). All of them have been growing well and are healthy and active. All now have their eyes open and are starting to get more and more mobile all the time!

Here are some pictures taken yesterday.

Molly -- the puppies' dam

Molly is a first generation (F1) labradoodle with a dark, curly coat (black with silver and brown mixed in). Her parents were a male chocolate lab and a female cream-colored standard poodle, both AKC-registered dogs from quality lines (I can supply her parentage back three generations). Molly is registered with the CKC. She is now five years old and this is her second litter (updated September 2010). She is a smart, very people-friendly family pet.

Casper -- the puppies' sire

Casper is a white, standard poodle, registered with both the AKC and CKC. He comes from great lines with lots of "Championship" dogs. He lives in Albany, Oregon. (I can send a PDF of his lines (back five generations) as verified by the AKC, if desired.)

Our beloved labradoodle, Molly, had her puppies on Friday night! We had marked her "due date" on the calendar as Oct. 15, but they came on the 12th.

She had seven healthy puppies: four boys and three girls. I'll post pictures and details later.
